Headlights aren’t just for night riding. Just as with automobiles, you are more visible in daylight if you have a head light on. Twenty years ago this wasn’t practical with bicycles. But today, with very efficient LEDs, and lithium-ion batteries, riding with a bright headlight during the day is possible. Modern headlights have 1 or more daylight flash modes that make you highly visible to oncoming traffic for many hours between recharges. The headlight shown below, Cygolite Metro 700 has been around for a few years, and is a typical headlight in the $50 price range (you can pay much more).
