The Buffalo Bicycle Classic dates back to 2003, having raised over 3.9 million dollars in support of student scholarships at CU Boulder. The students served by the BBC are some of Colorado’s brightest; each entering CU with over a 4.0 high school GPA. Our student scholars also demonstrate strong financial need, which makes this scholarship particularly important.
The BBC now offers 7 cycling courses, varying in difficulty as well as two running races: The Buffalo Run 5K and 10K. No matter your age, experience, or physical ability, we have a route for you! Enjoy the beautiful vistas Boulder has to offer, stop by one of our delicious aid stations, or climb Boulder Canyon in confidence thanks to the westbound lane closure. Whatever way you look at it, the Buffalo Bicycle Classic is a great event for a great cause.
The main start/finish and post-ride meal location is Campolindo High School, 300 Moraga Rd, Moraga, CA. Parking at Campolindo is limited, so if you are driving there, please try to carpool with other riders if you can. We also offer a car-free alternative start in Tilden Park. For details on both options see our Start Locations page.
There are three routes to choose from, all of them very hilly: 50 miles, 75 miles, and 100 miles. The latter two routes are identical for the first 73 miles (the north loop), at which point the 75 mile route returns to the finish while the full century route continues on to the south.
Five routes include our unique, beautiful California Coast. Our cheerful volunteers are eager to help make your ride day an experience to remember. Rest stops are stocked with abundant snacks to fuel your journey. And don’t forget what we’re famous for – Popsicles on the Rincon!
Popsicle Power and the cool coastal breeze will whisk you back to the ride finish where you’ll share the day’s adventures with fellow cycling enthusiasts as you enjoy a satisfying post-ride meal.
*** Postponed until Oct. 1, 2022 ***
Our Best of the Bay event includes an official CTC double century as well as a single century option. Both rides start and finish in Castro Valley, California.
Our double century route has three segments on which we include an experience filled with many of the best and most memorable cycling roads offered in the San Francisco Bay Area. The first segment has many small climbs and descents heading North to Grizzly Peak and back.
The most challenging part of the route is the second segment, which climbs and descends Mt. Diablo.
The third and final segment of the double century ride travels to these other great cycling offerings in the Bay Area: Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park, the Livermore vineyards, and the foothills of Mt. Diablo. The final 60 miles are less demanding, resulting in a finish without any significant challenging climbs.
Our single century is a part of the double century route and includes Mt. Diablo, Las Trampas, and Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park.
Registration will open soon
The Gap is worth a stop as you can see evidence of the earliest known residence of the area, the Fremont and Anasazi Indians. The Gap is a mountain that was split in two by a volcanic intrusion. The sandstone that was left bare by the split is covered with petroglyphs and contains multiple calendars that track both the moon and sun. The Gap is worth a trip and is a bonus as you pedal out your century.
Event proceeds go to the Zachary Ruble Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Hayswood Foundation, a renewable scholarship available to eligible Mason County High School seniors. Learn more about our cause and the scholarship here:

Come join us for a fabulous ride for a fantastic cause!
Join cycling legends Chris Froome, George Hincapie, and Christian Vande Velde on Saturday, November 19, 2021! Starting and finishing in Coconut Grove. Riders will be escorted and followed in a closed peloton by police vehicles at a minimum 18 mph pace. If equipment fails the ride does not stop. Our SAG support, provided by Mack Cycle and Fitness, will either provide an alternative top of the line bike and/or make the necessary repair to allow members to rejoin the peloton.
