Ride Idaho
Boise, ID
The week-long ride will begin on Saturday, July 13th, at Discovery Park, which is a short distance from Boise and where we will have our registration packet pick-up. The following morning, on our first day of riding, we will head northeast through the historical mining town of Idaho City, following the “Ponderosa Scenic Byway Route” to our first overnight location in Lowman.
On day 2, you will ride along the Payette River on the “Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway” with opportunities to soak in several hot springs. Lunch this day will be served at Terrace Lakes Resort and includes the use of the geothermal pool to swim and relax by. That night you will enjoy dinner in Garden Valley with the live theatrical, outdoor performance of “Newsies” at the Starlight Mountain Theatre.
For day three, pack your suit and sandals because after a short bike ride, you will be treated to an exciting raft trip down the Payette River on a section that is frequented by locals and visiting tourists alike. The last part of the day’s adventure will be followed by an easy 25 mile bike ride along the Payette River into Emmett.
Day four will take you on the “Snake River Canyon Scenic Byway” where many will have their first opportunity to see the splendor of hops being grown, for Idaho is the second largest producer in the United States. Camping this night will be at a city park on the majestic Snake River.
On day five, you will ride through lush orchards and vineyards as we make a few stops to visit some of the local wineries and tasting rooms. Then, you will encircle Lake Lowell and the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge and follow the Snake River down to our overnight location in Marsing, once again camping at another beautiful city park on the Snake River.
On day six, we will visit Givens Hot Springs and then have lunch at Celebration Park. The final stretch on this day’s ride will drop you into the majestic Snake River Canyon and Swan Falls Dam, where we will be camping at a beautiful recreation area.
On the last day, be sure to take pictures after you climb out of the canyon for your last view of the magnificent Snake River. Make sure to watch for the many species of birds of prey as you ride back to Boise and celebrate the week with all your new friends
